The Book of Awesome reminds us of all the little things we often overlook but that can make us smile: Wearing underwear just out of the dryer, when the vending machine gives you two things instead of one, popping bubble wrap, bakery air, returning to your warm and comfy bed after getting up to pee in the middle of the night.
When life seems to be falling apart around me, I tend to take long walks, admiring the beauty of the trees or simply enjoying the warmth of the sun–or even a briskness of a winter day.
Then, despite whatever worries I have, I’m reminded that this moment is perfect. And, it may not be the happiest of days, but it can be a happy moment.
This past week on Facebook, I talked about how I love hearing the birds singing in the morning. Just hearing their song reminds me to appreciate the little things in life. However, if their song isn’t enough, I need only click on, 1000 Awesome Things, an award-winning blog by Neil Pasricha.
I can also pick up his New York Times best-selling book, “The Book Of Awesome”, or the soon to be released “The Book Of (Even More) Awesome.”
Neil reminds us that even though life can be tough, there are plenty of reasons to rejoice.
Check out his talk on TED.
What makes you smile?
—embracing my inner three year old. “I’ll never be younger than I am at this moment.” Thanks Lorijo, I wasn’t aware of Neil Pasricha……awesome video.
You’re welcome. He’s definitely special.
