There’s just no denying it—spouses are in! Look at Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer, the cutest married couple on the Internet. They’re both artists, both cool, and both very successful.

Amanda and Neil

Then there’s me and my spouse, Terrence Metz. Definitely lacking in the cool factor, and if judged solely by our bank account, not nearly as successful. Nevertheless, we are a couple. More important, we’ve been married far longer than Neil and Amanda. (Good luck catching up, guys!)

In an attempt to up our cool factor, I’ve decided to create a page dedicated to (drumroll, please)–my husband!

The first thing you should know is that I never call him Terrence. (I take that back. I call him Terrence when I’m angry with him… which, of course, is never.) Among friends and family, Terrence is known as T-Metz. I won’t go into the reason for this, as it’s rather personal. (Suffice it to say it involves underwear and boarding school.)

The second thing you should know is that T-Metz is also an author. And here’s where it gets confusing. As an author, he goes by Terrence Metznot ScifiWriterDad, as many of you, I’m sure, assumed. (There may indeed be a ScifiWriterDad out there, but just to clear things up, I’m not married to him.)

Anyway, he has a new book. It’s available for pre-order (or, if you’re reading this in long after September 14, 2021, you can purchase it right away.)

Meetings That Get Results: A Facilitator's Guide to Building Better Meetings

“An essential handbook for any leader or facilitator of meetings. Especially as we have transitioned to more remote-based collaboration, I value all the tips to lead global team meetings.” —Sana A. Manjeshwar, Global Principal Ombuds Manager, Chevron

As you can see, it’s a business book. Soooo, not as cool as an Amanda Palmer album, but it’s very useful. And, if I do say so myself, an excellent book.

The third thing you should know about my husband—especially if you’re one of those people who work in an office (managing things and working on projects…doing things that people who work in offices do all day) is that he teaches facilitation (MGRush.com) and has his own awesome blog. If you don’t know what facilitation is (Believe me, you wouldn’t be the first!) check out his blog: Facilitation Best Practices

Finally, I just want to add that while we may not be Neil Gaiman and Amanda Palmer, I wouldn’t trade being us for them any day. (Well, maybe on Tuesdays and Wednesdays…but not every day.)

That’s it. That’s my husband, T-Metz (a.k.a. The author, Terrence Metz.)
